Emzor pharmaceuticals clocks 30, seeks government commitment

Nigeria’s leading indigenous brand in pharmaceutical industry, Emzor is celebrating its thirty years of its flagship brand Emzor Paracetamol with the unveiling of a special anniversary pack.

Speaking on the celebration, the founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of the company, Dr. Stella Okoli OON, restated the commitment of the company to providing affordable healthcare to everyone.

She said local manufacturers are the engine of growth in every economy and government needs to create an enabling environment for them to operate.

Okoli while unveiling the special anniversary park for the celebration noted that for Nigeria’s economy to recover from recession, local manufacturers should be empowered to meet the country’s commercial necessities as well as identify needs of other nations for export purposes.

She cited that manufacturing countries of the world do not go into recession because they meet needs of their people locally as well as export to other nations. “We must encourage our own local manufacturers to attain this,” she added.

“The current forex situation has made our suppliers think less of us as a country and that is not good enough,” Okoli remarked.

She advanced that for government to tackle the situation, a percentage of forex ought to be given to manufacturers, though with a close monitoring system.
