Daily habits that lead to yellowing of teeth and what you can do about it

There are many things that you do daily which stain your teeth in the long run. These include:

Too Much Tea And Coffee

Tannins, Chromogens, and an acidic nature in these beverages  make these the worst culprit for stained teeth. Limit the intake of tea and coffee to 2-3 cups per day.Remember to rinse your mouth after having coffee.

Fizzy Cola Drinks

Dark colas, clear drinks, it doesn’t matter, all fizzy drinks stain teeth due to the presence of phosphoric acid. It is best to avoid these drinks as much as you can. If you must drink a cola then use a straw and remember to rinse your mouth with water after you’re done with your drink.


Smoking, chewing pan or supari all lead to yellowing of teeth.No smoker or tobacco user has shiny white teeth. So, quit these habits  for better dental and oral hygiene.

Sugar Boiled Sweets

Sweets which are sugar based and take a long time to dissolve eventually break down into acid which erodes the enamel of the teeth, the sugar which sticks to your teeth is responsible for dental decays and carries.

Ways To Remove Yellowing Naturally

In addition to changing these habits that lead to yellowing of teeth, here are some simple and effective home remedies , which when used regularly can restore your pearly whites and give you the smile that you always wanted

1 . Salt

Use a pinch of salt, after you brush and gently massage the salt on your teeth for a brighter whiter smile.

2 . Baking Soda

Mix 2 table spoons of baking soda in about 300 ml of water, and use this mix as a mouthwash after every meal, make sure to wait about 30 minutes after eating to rinse your mouth with this mix.

3 . Lemon

Rub a lemon wedge over your teeth for instant shine, sprinkle some salt and use on teeth for extra sparkle and get rid of onion/garlic breath at the same time.

4 . Tulsi

Crush 5 tulsi leaves, mix with ¼ teaspoon mustard oil, and use this mix to brush your teeth with 2 times a day for whiter teeth.

5 . Turmeric (Haldi)

Take ½ teaspoon of turmeric mixed with salt and few drops of lemon juice to make a paste. Apply this once every night for a brighter smile.

6 . Oil

Dip a cotton ball in olive oil or coconut oil and rub this on your teeth to get rid of any visible surface stains.
