About 126 health personnel from 12 local government areas of Katsina State have been trained on detection and treatment of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia.

Eclampsia is a health challenge associated with high blood pressure in pregnant women which is believed to be the major cause of maternal death among pregnant women.

Recall that late singer, Keffi, was said to have died as a result of eclampsia.

Speaking at the presentation of equipment for the treatment of this condition, the Program Coordinator of Population Council on Ending Eclampsia, Gloria Adoyi said the council was disturbed by the trend and intended to address it pragmatically.

The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Kabir Mustapha appreciated the efforts of the council and assured judicious use of the items.
